The Knights of Columbus is the world's largest Catholic family fraternal service organization with 1.8 million members. It provides members and their families with volunteer opportunities in service to the Catholic Church, their communities, families, and young people.
As a member of the Knights of Columbus, you and your family enjoy many benefits, including 12 free issues annually of Columbia magazine, the world's largest Catholic family magazine, eligibility to join the Knights of Columbus top-ranked life insurance program, and many more family and personal benefits.
Members of the St. Francis of Assisi Council assist the parish community in six key areas: Church Activities, Youth Activities, Family Activities, Community Service, Fellowship Activities, and Right to Life Activities. For church, through support of priests, seminarians, and our religious, Knights strengthen their own personal faith. For community, through service and financial donations, we support our Parish and the needy in our community. For family, through frequent family programs, Knights strengthen family and marital relationships. For youth, at every opportunity, we assist our youth in building strong civic and religious responsibility to help build leaders of tomorrow. For fellowship, each member of the Knights brings his own unique talents and skills to share and enlighten every other member. Knights of Columbus are more than just friends…. We’re family! For Right to Life, led by the Fourth Degree, the Order encourages its own members – and all people --- to vote pro-life. The Knights of Columbus feels that the right to life is not a partisan issue, but rather the pre-eminent moral issue of our time. See our council brochure.
Membership in the Knights of Columbus is open to practicing Catholic men in union with the Holy See, who are at least 18 years old. A practicing Catholic is one who lives up to the Commandments of God and the precepts of the Church. Application blanks are available from any member of the Knights of Columbus. To learn more, please contact Richard Tucci at Membership@stfranciscouncil.org.
Any Third Degree member in good standing, one year after the anniversary of his First Degree, is eligible for membership in the Fourth Degree. The primary purpose of the Fourth Degree is to foster the spirit of patriotism by promoting responsible citizenship and a love of and loyalty to the Knights' respective countries through active membership in local Fourth Degree groups (called "assemblies"). Certain members of the Fourth Degree serve as honor guards at civic and religious functions, an activity that has brought worldwide recognition to the Knights of Columbus.
The Ladies Auxiliary's main function is to support the men and the council. They do this primarily by providing help at events, cooking for events and providing monetary help. They also help with setting up and beautifying the hall for events.
The Ladies of Hope meet the 3rd Wednesday of each month except July and August, either at the parish or at another local facility. Membership is open to women with a connection to a Knight of Columbus. The President of the auxiliary is Linda Powell, and if you would like more information on the Ladies Auxiliary, she can be reached via email at Ladies of Hope.
